Step &repeat is on online project comprising 28 poems released February 2010.
The poems and images are based around the mechanical repetitive nature of our working lives,
and why people choose to lead their entire journeys in this fashion. It is also a look at the rapid digitalisation of our world and the way that impacts on our inherent careers and all facets of our modern day existence.
Step &repeat itself is a term that was used in the graphic arts trade for many years, describing a complex planned and pre-formulated reproduction of the image. Now it just means to press a button. To me it means the mundane reproduction of life in many people's daily work roles and the limiting of their creative potential and ability to think. This is my second online collection of writing and images. The first is Envelope Windows, which is the title of my first book of poetry. It can be ordered securely here.
Step &repeat is a look at our working lives, from my own perspective, starting as an apprentice, continuing right through to retirement. At age 21 I undertook work in the graphic arts field, after which I wrote the body of this work. I live in Sydney Aust. and continue to write, photograph, self-fund and produce my own original work.
